For 10k I’d think your options are pretty limited. You could probably find an old Prostar with a Maxxforce for that kind of money...

I have to admit I kind of think like you with the inexpensive trucks.

However if you find something inexpensive you have to make sure it's not junk.

And most importantly if you were going to buy something that's inexpensive, know how to turn a wrench and have a place to do it.

If you're really really really really careful you can look around and find an older truck that somebody did a lot of work to.

I know a guy that bought a Mack superliner tractor for $12,000. But when he looked in the glove box he found receipts for a lot of expensive repairs.

I have bought trucks that were really nice that needed some kind of of a repair or multiple repairs. But you have to really know what it is that is worthwhile to work on.

And that's the moral of my story to you young grasshopper. Look for something that someone has kept up with that they put money into that they replaced a lot of parts on it and then you don't nearly have as much to do. There are definitely good trucks to start out with for $10,000 or less. And sometimes you find something that's a little more than you were going to spend but if it's really nice and doesn't need as much work that generally is worth the money.

But YOU have to make it one hundred percent right.

    Good luck.

I think in that price range an auction will get you your most bang for your buck. It will be a crapshoot no matter how you look at it for $10k. Check past prices on the big auction sites. Hessauctioneers.com has one coming up in april. I've seen some pretty good looking older trucks go through there cheap. Have your tools ready
