If you need to get your truck repaired,is it better to take it to the dealer where you bought it from or find a good repair shop on your own?

Most of the repair shops are nothing but "parts changers" anymore. They can`t do anything unless the computer tells them how.Next will come the excuses when you still have trouble after you`ve paid them $100 an hour to misdiagnose and not repair your truck. There are some good shops around the country, but overall I`d say prepare yourself for disappointment.

I'd say it all depends on what type of repair you're talking about, age of the truck, and if you're a duct-tape and baling wire person on a tight budget or one who prefers to get it done right, the first time. Then, not all shops are the same, even within the same "type" of shop so you have to be selective and trust your instincts a lot.

I had a truck worked on by Freightliner in OKC. 4 times before they got it right and it was just a programming error. I had to run okc to Ca and back with the speedo saying 45 while I was passing everything on the road, and to top it all off I was with a mentor!

Take it someplace that has a nationwide warranty

You're going to take it wherever your company tells you to, without running up to high of a tow bill!
