Where is everyone #5

I've been telling myself that I'm cleaning up the shop today since several of my projects are waiting for parts...in reality this place looks largely just like it did this morning.

 

Second pic is a F-8 Crusader. Pressed into service as a fighter version ( equipped with machine guns. And missiles ) of the A-7 Corsair attack plane basically because they found out that the new hi tech weaponry of only having missiles on the F-4 Phantom was a bad idea, and there wasn't a good way to retrofit machine guns into the design.
Can you say hi tech self driving cars and Trucks ?

The first troubleshooting equipment they had me operating was for fixing the amps for the AFCS ( autopilot ) on the A-7, which was soon to be replaced by the F/A-18 Hornet ( lawn darts ). Thanks for making me feel old !

Those F-8's were subsonic I believe and weren't in service long, but they needed a fighter with guns during Vietnam.

 

For a museum I thought it was pretty neat...walk right up and touch most everything, even has several aircraft you can get in and go sit. Outside they had some jet engines partially disassembled so you could get an idea how they work.

 

Most definitely my kind of place. Thanks for the pictures and telling us about it. That old monoplane hanging from the roof looks like a Bleriot I think. The black rounded nose next to the F-8 appears to be a F-86 Sabre from the Korean War era.
