Does anybody have any experience with an eaton 5+3 setup? 5 speed transmission and a 3 speed tandem rear end. From what little I'm finding online, low range and high range are used and intermediate is best not used.

Don’t know a lot about them but they’re technically two speed rears, the get the third speed by putting one in low range and one in high range. Not sure about their durability, a guy could block off the third range.

Started my new job today. Boss calls at 8:30 says where are you. HR is looking for you, not a good way to start. I says at the clinic getting a drug test like she told me to. Oh he says, she must have forgotten that. Call me when you're done. Got apologized to a bunch of times when I got there. My two month old med card wasn't good enough for them, so I got another one that they paid for too

I'm finding the intermediate range runs one axle in high and the other in low, through the inter axle differential. I'm also finding some people saying intermediate range is very hard on the drive line.
My FIL tells me the intermediate range didn't work when he bought the truck.

I did find this information, for those who may be interested.
    Loadstar 3-speed axles

You wouldn't if you had antlers. Need more room to turn your head than that.
You bipeds are odd critters in ways but I like y'all anyway.

Yeah that’s right, I’m not sure how the shift mechanism works. If it’s just a simple air controlled slave cylinder it should be easy to block off the intermediate position. But a lot of times multi position air controllers use multiple hoses that apply air to different lands to control position, you can’t just block those off. I would think since it’s actually a two speed rear it would be simple.
