It would take a whole lot of fuel to make up the difference between 'certified' tires and non-certified... how many miles is the payback?

    Thanks for the link!

I too will be buying some new tires very soon. I have 22.5lp luggers (off-road style) on my otr truck I just got. I figure I can get $1,500 out of the 8 brand new tires if I can sell em to a construction or dump company. Then I'm going with M726EL as I had them before and got 300k out of them and with our Natl. account pricing, they are $350

I was trying to figure the same thing out. My current tires are a 179, and the Bridgestones are a 130 I think, so I'm guessing that switching from my open shouldered luggers to the better otr tires I should gain .5mpg and with my 2700 miles and fuel at $4+ a gallon, I would save $100 a week. So the cost of $3000 tires will take less than a year to pay for itself.
