...for a nervous new driver to start at? After getting so much great advice about backing from the experienced drivers, I just had to ask. I've had my CDL since April, but due to medical emergencies (not mine) I finally can find a job. But I'm VERY nervous since I worked harder and longer than the average student to get my CDL. On the spot testing freaks me. I CAN get past it but it takes patience on behalf of the tester. *shrug* So back to the topic (yeah.. I'm ADD.) Where's the best place for a new driver to get their start when it's been a few months since graduation?

    Apply with :

    Watkins & Shepard
    Swift
    TWT Refrigerated Services

    Also:

Try household moving companies & their agents. Look in yellow pages or Google for these.

TMC has one of the best training programs. I choked on the road test after training and the tester helped me out and then passed me. I missed a turn he said was coming up and had horrible lane management. I even grinded most gears and missed a few. i flat out choked. the tester helped me out and when i made a clean trip he passed me. I was pretty nerveos, but ti all worked out

Richter Who is TCM? I've not heard of them. Are they out of the East there?

You don't want to mess with TMC. Not at this time. Get three or more years then we will talk. They run big dogs, tight sack only a top driver can meet.

Okey dokey then Saddletramp :) I can see that by reading their site.. while they take students..I'm not sure Flatbedding is where I need to be with no experience. (not to mention they're not hiring out of the NW anyway :biggrin_25523:) What would you recommend?

I just know them from the road. Just saying their is a safer way to go. Their trucks are top notch. Really nice. I exceed the speed limit sometimes. The run right with me. Just want you to be safe.

I'm good with that. :) You have 30 odd years experience, and I'll defer to that. Just asking if you have a suggestion
