Used truck sales, just like automobiles, are sold AS IS/WHERE IS..... maybe you should have researched a little more beofre hoping into a truck of your own, as that is usually the problem with most who b__ch and moan about something going wrong. He is not OBLIGATED to do anything.

Once you sign on the line, it's your problem, but he is more than willing to help you guys out. I don't blame him for not forking over $4000+

Once again, this is where you should have done more research and known what you were getting into. You do seem like the type of driver that knows very little about how a truck functions and how it works. I'm guessing you just "drive" the truck correct? You should have probably stayed a company driver as that is the ONLY place someone who knows nothing about a truck should be.... driving someone else's truck and letting them worry about repairs.

This is obvious.... but also anyone with common sense will realize you have no clue what you are doing and just take your comments with a grain of salt.

A direct quote from the company website:

    http://www.lonemountaintruck.com/referral/

    Lone Mountain Truck Leasing Will

Let you choose the exact truck you want from our extensive inventory of dependable rigs, all only 3-5
    years old
Help you get financed through a capital lease that includes a minimal down payment, and low monthly
    payments for 24-44 months
Make applying for a lease easy, either online, over the phone, or by fax
Allow you to drive the truck off the lot for diagnostic evaluation and required inspections
Make any adjustments or repairs necessary before you take your truck off the lot
Provide a 15-day temporary permit to allow you to return to your home state for licensing

Not being a lawyer, but it reads to me as once it hits the street you own all the headaches if you do not find it before accepting the unit.

But they do say that you can: Allow you to drive the truck off the lot for diagnostic evaluation and required inspections.

Clearly there is little sympathy here for the OP.
I bought an $80 000 truck from a dealer 18 months or so ago, and 45 days after the purchase the waterpump crapped out.
They also had the letter of the law behind them and would have been within their rights to tell me to stuff it.
I called them to ask if they had any clout to get a goodwill claim passed with the local CAT house and they said they couldn't , but were more than willing to pay half the bill.
I'm in the process of buying a second truck through them now.

@aiwiron, because the customer can take the truck to the shop of their choice we have to get insurance on the truck before they leave. Most of the time to get insurance you need a signed lease/bill of sale.

If anything doesn't pass they can come back and we will fix it and pay to have it re-inspected. Technically it is a goodwill repair.

@ENR, we do goodwill repairs, but it is on a case by case basis. In this case the truck was looked at in our shop, was checked by the customer, passed a DOT at a 3rd party, then had some repairs done at a shop in sparks, NV. Then when it got the CA it needed 4300 of DOT repairs. Seems a little odd that all 3 shops and the customer would have missed this. The shop in sparks definitely would have wanted to do that work.

That said, I don't blame him for being mad. I would be too. But I probably would get a 2nd opinion before dropping 4300.

Most of the time they need a bill of sale? When can a person take it and have a 3rd party inspection without a bill of sale?

When do you honor the part listed on your website about this:

    Lone Mountain Truck Leasing Will

    • Let you choose the exact truck you want from our extensive inventory of dependable rigs, all only 3-5
    years old
    • Help you get financed through a capital lease that includes a minimal down payment, and low monthly
    payments for 24-44 months
    • Make applying for a lease easy, either online, over the phone, or by fax
    • Allow you to drive the truck off the lot for diagnostic evaluation and required inspections
    • Make any adjustments or repairs necessary before you take your truck off the lot
    • Provide a 15-day temporary permit to allow you to return to your home state for licensing

Now the above is directly copy and paste off your website, nothing stated about good will repairs or bill of sale needed prior to having the right for a truck inspection.

totally understand, I made the same mistake, buying from them, so many drivers I ran into, after I chose to buy this truck, told me the same story, I do blame myself, I did take to shop and ask them to hook there computer up to it, they said, there where no active faults found, these truck from Lone Mountain are no way near worth the money they charge!!, They will never see me again, and I will try as hard as I can to persaude anyone and everyone looking to get a truck, to not go to lone mountian truck leasing!!!!

You need a bill of sale to get insurance on the truck.

Once the customer leaves they can go to the shop of their choice to get their inspections done. If anything doesn't pass they can bring the truck back and we will make the repairs, free of charge.

Well of course anyone purchases a vehicle they are free to have it inspected at any place they desire after all they own it, but you said earlier that it was a good will repair and that is not what is on the website and what is advertised.

From what I have read it sounds to me that if you want to repair or make the truck proper it is at a whim, not good business and sounds more like a lure to get people in and have the truck gone.

Unless someone is very desperate it sounds like they need to steer clear of your shady financing and good will repairs.

If the customer finds anything during their inspection on our lot, we fix it. If they get it inspected at a 3rd party and something comes up, we fix it. It's pretty simple.

After reading it again, the wording is a little awkward. I'll get it changed tomorrow to make it read more clearly. I would be open to suggestions on how to say it.
