I followed this thread and will contribute a tiny thought.
My county got into the gas boom about 10 years ago maybe 12. There was a small field relatively speaking of gas to be drawn in our area and rigs came to make it happen, frackers showed up, water and other outfits showed up.
I would hear the jakes going as the tankers went by every 10 minutes all night long around my home. For years. I quit hearing them. We might lose one or two a year when they hit it too fast and flop over which is really not good.
Things have slowed quite a bit. They are still running, but the main properties of frackers etc in our area are getting pretty full. Meaning things are rather quiet now. Lucky are the few still running.
Where the heck is the money in sand?

I thought there was plenty of literature on this site about how Sand Box was less than desireable for a company driver. Heard first hand they were paying company drivers 60k and running them hard about a year or two ago. Interested if things have changed much.

Quite a bit of what I have read is about the Colorado yard and before they were bought out by US Silica. I am seeing a lot of trucks in Texas and Midland is hiring with a guarantee and housing plus load pay.

Yup oilfield is like that. Lots of stories of guys doing well and then find yourself making no more than you would staying home except you suffer in the oilfield.
No doubt some people make good money, good connections, get on the best paying work etc. But..... there are a lot of operations want you sitting on their truck just in case they find work for it.speedyk, rabbiporkchop and Paddlewagon Thank this. -
