A new truck also comes with a warranty and zero miles and parts that aren't worn out, but, hey, buy a worn out truck that, over time, you'll put $150 grand into, anyway.
I WISH I was in the position to buy new, although, my '07 has none of the after-treatment crap that seems to cause most of the issues with trucks, these days. So, there's that.

 

The after treatment issues are directly related to extended idling. An APU helps.

I’ve been in this one for over a month. And have yet to need a regen. Checking my gauges, it will be awhile before it needs one. I shut it down as soon as I set the brake.

With my former company truck. I probably regen’d twice or more a week. No APU My last one had 42k on it when I picked it up. It was the same. Constant regens

 

I've owned my truck for six years. Never had to regen.
