Where to buy chains?

    What's the best place to buy chains? Will consider used.

    What kind of chains? Tire chains or chains for load securement?

    If you're talking about tire chains....Try a truck supply house. That will be cheaper than buying them at a truckstop.

    The larger question that needs to be addressed here is "When to buy them?"

    I always buy my chains in the "off" season because they're way cheaper then....Food for thought.

    If you're buying used chains...not in the bag...better make sure they are the right size!

    Most drivers really like the practice of putting them on....have fun!

    2) i guess the other question is, you would need at least 4 chains? One for each drive wheel on a 6x4 tractor UNLESS you have diff locks for both axles? Not the inter-axle lock, but actual diff-locks that lock both sides of each axle together?

    Each state has it's own requirements for the minimum number of chains you must carry.
