Then you should know the KW has not done gliders for a couple of years and they are just starting now with only 2 models. Also with Pete you can only get one model. If KW ends up doing the gliders anything like Pete is and I am sure they are because as you said they are both Paccar, then it is not have as many options as it you were to order a NONE glider truck..

I looked at Peterbilt trucks for awhile but once I wanted to go with a glider I couldnt get a bunch of things.

Like I said Western star had 52 pages of things I could get and I am not talking about lights and things to make it look good. You can get frame rail extensions, a bunch of different options. I built the truck I wanted with Western Star and took the spec sheet to Pete and they couldnt come close to what I wanted and I have always been a Pete fan...

Well, there again you are WRONG my friend. Kenworth offers the T800, T660, AND the W900 in a glider kit. Also, I did not say that they have offered gliders for a couple of years, but rather said that they have offered them for some time now. If you knew the right person or dealership to ask, you could have always gotten a KW glider that was built through the parts department. They have always been very expensive that way, but if you wanted it bad enough it could be done.

I can't speak for Peterbilt, but I find it a bit hard to believe that frame length is an issue. Maybe your Peterbilt salesman doesn't think that your a real buyer. I think that you should learn a bit more about the sales process and ordering process before you start claiming what certain manufacturer's can do for you that others can't. It's really no surprise that Western Star has the same build process as Freightliner as they are basically the same trucks nowadays anyway.

Galvannealed steel cab with a 17-stage e-coat process for long-lasting corrosion resistance Severe service cab option with extra gussets
    and reinforcements for added safety.

That was the only option. I did get the severe cab.

Here in the North East most states are not putting down liquid calcium on the roads in the winter and it kills anything aluminum. I have an aluminum trailer and it is a mess now from that junk...

    Now guys, play nice! :biggrin_25516:

So can either of you tell me where I can find a list of trucks and differences in at least popular models?
I'm familiar with the major brands, but I need definitions, like what's the difference between a daycay and a sleeper... I've seen some for sale listed as daycabs with sleepers on them.... and model numers.... bikes yes, cars, mostly, but trucks... I need help!:mconfused:
Going to the manufacturers sites only works for a couple model years....
    thanks
    Mary

The press release they came out with 2-3 weeks ago said they would only be offering the 800 and 660... Also you will not be about to get a N14 or 6NZ being that they need to be 2004 or new motors...

Yeah I am ditching the KW glider kit plan since I can't drop a red top cummins or an older Detroit in it. I have plenty of EPA trucks, no need for another one.

I would like to post pics. It got finished at factory Monday, 7/16/2012. Got put out for shipment that day. Got shipped out of factory on Thur 7/19. Just arrived at dealer today, 7/23. The air dam has to be painted as well as the fuel tanks. The engine and tranny get put in Tues 7/24. Since paint is the longest process here, the truck will not be ready till early next week.

Yep, been a long process since the order went in at the end of February. Sad thing is that the dealer gets to drive it before I do!! They have to check it all out and make sure it is ready to work.
