Is there reliable information out there on used trucks? Sort of like a consumer's guide on cars or a Blue Book.
We all have deferent needs and price ranges. But how does a 1st time purchaser know what truck with what engine was the best rated for a particular year? Or best choice in a price range?
Where To Find Info On Used Trucks?

This ain't a game for some one to read Consumer Reports... do your homework, ask other truck operators what they use for equipment and go from there.
-
you know doing your homework by asking some truckers for advice can be good and bad but also confusing for a first time truck buyer. There is really alot that goese into purchasing a truck like what will you be pulling(flatbed, van, reefer, stepdeck),and on and on. You can get good help if your questions are specific but just remember the advice you get will be that persons opinion to be used as tool. In my opinion there should be some type of consumer guide for big trucks as it is a major purchase and you should be able to find out the good and bad info thats factual not just someone elses personal interrpretation(some only like one kind of equipment, there for all else is junk). So just remember this if nothing else, once you find your truck if its not a new truck pay an independent certified mechanic to go over it and if the seller does not want you to have it looked at then run run run and start your hunt over. GOOD LUCK

Many, many times we've all seen two identically equipped trucks work completely different. This is a big problem with buying a truck from a big fleet (or leasing).

I believe what Krooser and Kittyfoot say is true! And such is the problem. I read about Volvo wiring problems but as of yet, I've found no driver O/O to confirm this.
Not saying it isn't true, just deferent stories. I met one owner of a Peterbult who swore never again! Go figure.
I'm beginning to think only time behind the wheel of many trucks will ever let you know what a truck should feel like.
Thanks for responding guys. -
Just a little bit of info..... when having your truck inspected do it at a competing shop. They will not only find every little fault but oftimes trot out their version of a good deal at a better price.
RonS666 Thanks this.
