In a 2019 Cascadia with Prime. Oil change every 75000 miles, chassis lube at 37000, air filter every 100k. During the oil change they do a bit of other maintenance like fuel filters and check torque etc. APU on truck from day 1 and governed at 62/65 depending on being lease or company. Every load is heavy.

75k that about sums it up

I wouldn't touch a newer truck that didn't have apu from day 1 and full ecu dump/dyno

I think the best deal long term might be a local dealer for a truck that still has some OEM warranty left in it.

Reasonable payment and you build a relationship with the dealer for the future deal.

Maybe buy a OEM backed extended warranty on top of that.

    lights787 Thanks this.

Personally, I’d stay away from mega company trucks, most have been through the ringer with rookie drivers... don’t hate the opinion! Everyone has one

I dont think that matters as much anymore with most new fleet trucks going the way of automatics.

Probably, but I wouldn’t buy an automatic, but that’s me

If you don’t need an emissions truck, here is the best deal ever. Less than 200k miles daycab factory powered glider with a 12.7 Detroit and they have a couple of them up for auction.

I would not be afraid of buying a truck at a Ritchie Brother's auction. I watch them pretty closely and while there are some beaters, they auction off many really nice trucks. And, if they aren't Peterbilts or Kenworths, they usually go for a really good price. In fact, I have often seen trucks auctioned off that end up on dealer lots, so why bother paying the dealer mark up? You'd just want to be picky and make sure you get a really good price because you aren't going to know a whole lot about the trucks history.

You have just as much possibility of getting lemon from an auction as you do from a truck dealer. I bought a Volvo at Ritchie last year. It was auctioned at the end of its 7 year lease(paperwork in truck) and speced above average with items like disc brakes. IMO, a little due diligence by getting dirty and inspecting can save 10’s of thousands of dollars. If you need to put some money in it once you get it home, at least you didn’t pay retail, and still have to put money in it once you got it home.
