Here is the scenario I would like you to consider.
A family member or close personal friend wants to get into trucking and they have come to you for advice. They would like to go with a company sponsored plan so that they have a job when they complete training, as apposed to going to a Community College, then having to look for a job. They can pay for the training up front and do not need to sign a contract. They live in Central Florida, so companies with a terminal or drop yard nearby would be important for home time. They have no objection to OTR, at least to start out and would like to drive team at the beginning. Finally, being 55 years old, they would prefer a carrier that does not require alot of handling of the freight.
What would you recommend?
I am asking this question mainly of the Experienced Truckers out there. My reasoning is that they have probably heard all the stories, good and bad, and have the experience to filter fact from fiction.
This is the situation I am in at this moment. I am tentatively planning on going with a particular company, but will not name it now. I do not want to create bias in the responses.
Thanks for your help.
