Well I finished my training at Parker. I have not taken my test yet. Overall I think it was a good program. The teachers were cool. I have my pre-trip and air brakes test down & have confidence that I can execute the four manuvers and pass my test. The only thing that I am really nervous about is the road portion of the test. I could have used a lot more time driving the truck on the road than I got, but whatever. I hope I pass!

AppleKnocker your updated posts alone have made me feel like Parker is the place to get my CDL. I visited them not too long ago and they were really nice, met some of the instructors very down to earth people. I hope you pass and get that class A!!:biggrin_25525:

Well I took my test the other day. Passed the pre-trip, parallel parking on both sides, and the forward & back offset alley. Failed the air brakes test (forgot to get the chock blocks before going on to test the trailer brakes) and the alley dock (ran over a cone). Oh well, I guess I have to retest. Parker does a refresher for everyone who failed, but the thing is I have no idea when the refresher or the retest is going to be. I called the school to find out when this would be & they gave me the old "don't call us, we'll call you", but I hope it's soon! Out of 13 students who were in my class, one person passed on the first try. That doesn't make me feel like any less of a moron though! Cheers everybody!:biggrin_25510:

Ok so I started at Parker Professional Driver school in Avon this past Monday (July 12). So far so good. The instructor is really cool with a good sense of humor & seems to have a lot of years of experience as an actual truck driver with plenty of funny stories. The first week is all about sitting in the classroom watching videos and taking practice tests to prepare us to get our permits so that we can hit the road. The class has about 13 people. I was kinda surprised that I'm one of the youngest people in the class (I'm 35). I figured that there would be a lot of people in their 20s & some more 30s as well, but I was wrong. Class is from 8:00am until noon. The good old "roach coach" comes by every morning at 10:30 on the dot for a coffee/smoke break. So far I am still stoked about my decision to go to Parker instead of Netts. I'll check in here again in a few days.....

I remember Gary! He's such a funny guy.

For any of you that decide to go to Parker:

Make sure you enroll in the full course instead of taking private lessons. With the full course, you get up to three road tests before having to pay for one. Also, if you fail a road test, you get a free lesson. I did private lessons and we ended up spending $1,150 more than what the full Class A course would have cost! All because I had to take the road test four times because I failed the same maneuver 3 times! The $1,150 was just for road tests alone! What I rip off! I should be entitled to a partial refund. Another problem is that all the instructors are different. Therefore some lessons were a complete waste of money! The only reason I did private lessons in the first place is because I already had my permit and I thought we were going to spend less money than what the full course would have cost. I would have also had to adjust my work schedule in order to enroll in the full course.

Whoops, I made a mistake. We actually only spent $570 more. But still, that is a rip off. I want a partial refund!

I am about to sign up with NETTTS... but this thread is making me question the wisdom of choosing NETTTS over Parker.

Could someone please provide me with advice?

5 weeks seems much better that 20.............. which is what the class at NETTTS I am looking at is.

I am a resident of New Hampshire. I know NETTTS specifically is licensed by the State of New Hampshire. Is Parker?

I did and it turns out they don't work with NH licensed drivers. I went to NETTTS yesterday to meet with the faculty and I must say I was impressed. I am all signed up and start classes monday :)
