I have 8 month experience and just moved to Brooklyn. I'm looking to get a OTR job but I don't know what I would do with the truck on home time if I found a job. I really don't want to have to pay outrages fees to pay to park somewhere. Anyone from NYC or that could help me out in anyway with some advice would be greatly appreciated.

I'm in Bed-Stuy and Bushwick off of Broadway. Anywhere in NYC would be great. I don't mind taking the bus or train.

Follow the trash haulers around. they know all the good spots. Parking on the street is a total gamble, between someone screwing with the unit and the city who might not like where it is and tow it. Likely your employer will not permit you to just park it on the street, they might have other secure arrangements available. If you own it, I would rent the secure space. No one said trucking in and out of NYC is a dream.

Check some of the local trucking guys, I used to have a O/O in Flatbush who parked about a mile from home inside a warehouse/terminal w/ a fenced yard. Paid a rental fee.

Matlack would run a driver over his 70 to avoid layovers within a 50 mile radius. Brought them into Woodbridge and we would calls the Swan Motel to come pick them up w/ the shuttle van after we warned them to ask for a remodled room and then to close the drapes, turn out all the lights and look for little holes w/ dim red lights...make sure there wasn't a camera in that room!

Most major carriers w/ a terminal in that area used the Swan...

Thank you! I took your advice and found out U.S. Express has a terminal right across the Hudson in New Jersey that is accessible through public transportation!
