    Hi gang,

I'm planning a visit to Williamsburg, VA with a fellow trucker for about three days. I'm looking for a safe place to park our two tractors and trailers for the duration near Colonial Williamsburg and Busch Gardens. We prefer to stay in our trucks for the nights and just get a rental car to get around locally.

I found a Pilot about 30 miles away, but they only have 20 spaces and I'd rather not risk not being able to find a spot there.

Anyone out there know a a good spot? Thanks for your help.

    Cheers,
    Maggie

That Pilot is about the closest one I know of. The rest are south and north of Richmond. You could go in the morning and probably get parking spots.

Other options are a motel. You have to pay for parking at Busch Gardens and with discount tickets from a motel it wouldn't be much more.

Another idea is Kings Dominion above Richmond. It's a much better amusement park and there are many truck stops across the interstate. You could drive from there in a rental to visit Williamsburg.

If I had one day to go to an amusement park in Virginia, it would be Busch. They don't have as many coasters, but they ones they do are much, much, better than the ones at KD.

That and I worked at KD for 6 years and don't have much of a desire to go back, but that's another thread all on it's own.

Best bet is to rent a car from Enterprise in Ashland, VA. From the northern most TA, go west on VA54 about 3/4 of a mile to US 1 and turn left. A few miles down on the left hand side is where Enterprise is, there is a dirt lot across the street from the on the right side that you can put the truck in long enough for one of you to go over and get the rental car. Then continue south on 1 until you get to Lewistown rd, turn left, and follow it about 1-2 miles to the southern most TA. From there it'd be about an hours drive to Williamsburg.

Big Charlies Truck Stop in Va. Beach is right off 64 on North Hampton Blvd, its bigger than the pilot, Although is about 25 -35 miles from Busch Gardens and Colonial Williamsburg.

    Its Exit 282 off 64.

There's a Comfort Inn, Days Inn, Super 8 and a few other hotels at exit 234. which is right at Colonial Williamsburg, they may have truck parking if its just 2 of you. Good luck.

The only problem with staying there may be the traffic thru the tunnels trying to get to Williamsburg and back, traffic is much worse east of Williamsburg than west. Especially if it's going to be a weekend with all the traffic going to VA Beach and the Outer Banks.

    Maggie and others:

I have an annual pass to the "CW" so I know a bit about the area ...

    (757) 229-1000
    main switchboard for Colonial Williamsburg
call them and ask for the Visitors Center Kiosk and/or the Office of Safety and Security

Depending on when you are planning to come to Colonial Williamsburg if it's "regular" weekend and not a special events weekend there are some big parking areas on CW property where I can't see why they would object to you parking there IF you planned it out WITH them ahead of time.

    (800) 343-7946
main switchboard for Busch Gardens - Williamsburg
go through the same type of people

    (757) 220-2331
non emergency number for City of Williamsburg Police
ask about parking rules and regulations

I don't know if you are or are not a member, it still may be a good idea to ask them about tractor trailer parking questions ...

I have not seen any tractor trailers at this location EXCEPT those loading and unloading. I have seen RVs parked there, though overnight. So, you may want to take a chance and see if they would be willing for you to park there.
