Oh this ones way to easy Los Angeles would be the place to set one up if you took an online survey you would find by far this city is in short supply of decent Truck stops. The only ones i know of are the 2 TA's on I-10 the only obstacle would be buying land and getting approval.

A real TRUCK STOP? Not a travel plaza/bus station/rv park/homeless camp ,fun place to take grand ma ,the little doggie and the kids to hang out and wait til a real truck driver comes in and heads towards the food line then all the 4 wheeler people run up to get in front of the driver kinda of place?
I hate these modern day "travel plazas", and I would build a real truck stop with a huge sign that says "NO TRESPASSING , THIS MEANS YOU, ONLY BIG TRUCKS ALLOWED, no non commercial vehicles" ,and "you will be towed immediately at your expense plus we'll call the cops". HaaGearjammin' Penguin Thanks this. -
Seattle, San Francisco, Sacramento. Heck, maybe even Modesto. The truck stops in Ripon (near Modesto) are always full.

It will not happen in Washington State or Oregon. T/A owns land next to the Troutdale, Or. truck stop and the town will not issue a permit to expand the parking lot. The mentality of local and state governments is crazy. No matter what business is there you generate tax dollars, decrease unemployment by creating more jobs and give trucks a safe haven to park rather than on street or in the industrial areas.Gearjammin' Penguin Thanks this.

plenty of truck stops on 80 between colorado and utah. Cheyenne, Laramie, Sinclair, Little America, Rock Springs, Evanston.
Yes Denver Metro needs more as well as up 25 towards Cheyenne. -
No room in the bay area , plus the locals don't want truck stops there.
Yes Seattle needs a couple more, but again the locals don't want them.
you nailed it.
You have all these anti truck people out there. -

I'd find the scales with the worst reputation for driver harassment, and buy up all of the property between the scale and the exit on either side...that way, people could exit to my truck stop, spend some money (to avoid the appearance of "dodging the scales" ), and then get back on past the coops to continue on their way. From one exit to the next, they would be on private property, so there wouldn't be a dern thing the DOT could do. I'd also have billboards with live feed video showing the open/closed status of the scales right there at the exits.
Swedish Chef, Cottonmouth85, Gearjammin' Penguin and 3 others Thank this.
