San Diego could use a couple and the Long Beach area on up the 101 to the bay area, in Gilroy you get the wonderful Garlic Farm that's it. any thing is a scale and fuel only.
any major city -
Any place in Massachusetts and main. Big enough to have a semi parking garage two story. No fee to park for night, fuel on a discount. Buy 20 or 30 vans to shuttle a driver or drivers any place he needed.
Supplies for truck, mechanical work being done on full service garage that doesn't gouge you for money.
As well as large scale updated monthly maps (correct routes) from truckstop to all major shippers and receivers in the state. TVs set up for live weather feeds, traffic feeds as well as any DOT portable scale setups.
Ya think I'm asking for to much??? -
Bottom line is, states are going to have to build hundreds of strategically located "truck parking area". Furthermore, they will HAVE to remain committed to providing adequate trash removal costs. And if safety, security, prostitution becomes a problem, then I guess they'll have to accept permanent 24/7 security costs. Consumer demand and federal regulations and local municipalities (government) have played a huge or partial cause for trucks being parked in unsafe locations for 10+ hours at a time. So let government work to alleviate the nationwide problem.
If they can get federal financial help for upfront and/or ongoing costs, more power to them. This is problem for everybody who consumes anything, and is a nationwide commerce capacity problem, not a trucking industry problem.
You want your stuff? You want your safety and isolation from evil trucks? You don't want truck stops in your community? Then you as a tax paying citizen is going to have to get your states to build and maintain parking areas.Last edited: Jul 6, 2017

It should mandatory to have truck parking just outside major city's Where a driver can go before and after a delivery. Truck parking on the ramps where a delivery is to be made.
-
I think they need to be located more in rural areas further away from metro areas due to more practical availability of land and fewer "environmental concerns". Keep the carrier on the hook for keeping them moving into and back out of commerce centers.
The cross country trucks will naturally seek out the quieter, more easily accessible remote parking areas for their 10's, freeing up space at closer truck stops for those with critical HOS concerns and staging area for delivery and pickup.
Wyoming has done these to handle frequent road closures on major east-west commerce routes and they work. They could incorporate alfresco coed showers to save money and fulfill a need. It would be great!

tucker Thanks this. -
With the price of land so high, cities and counties that do not want any signs of trucks in their neighborhoods and the difficulty in obtaining permits to build we are lucky that Love's is even trying to build any truck stops in the country. People need to realize that if they just want their goods and services but not the trucks that bring them there soon will be no trucks that will even want to go into certain areas. Remember without our trucks to bring everything you need directly to you, you won't have even the basic things that you need or want.

Loves has been putting a lot of effort into getting local approval for the new stops. Even bringing leaders from towns with a recently open stops to talk to the people in places where they want to build. Seems to be working too. Now if they only had more parking and less fast food.
