    But with food costing so much $3000 is not that much in Alaska.

    Most companies are slavery wages, there are a few good ones. Oilfield is good if you can get a job there, but there are lots of jobs closing in OF right now and killing a lot of families. OTR is slavery plain and simple IMO.

    Food prices might just surprise you, some items are cheaper here than down south.
    If a guy eats out, much of it is not any higher than what truckstops were when I left down there.
    It has been a while since I went grocery shopping, but milk was 3 bucks a gallon, I have paid more down south, can goods about the same as down there, potatoes may be cheaper here too.
    Rent is high, but guys that just come up here to work will rent dry cabins for 5 to 7 hundred a minth, some that just works the summer season lives at the wallmart koa. lol

    I should add, most companies furnish a meal if you run north, if you just work up north room and board comes with the job, and it is some good eatin too. lol
