We can not find the weep hole on the back and have even tried using a scope. Without finding it, we can not decide between stuck thermostats or water pump. Engine will get well over 200 degrees and you can still stick your finger in the coolant in the radiator, so we are not getting circulation for one reason or another. Radiator is less than a year old and thermostats were replaced in November, even though some people have said that some off of the shelf are not any good.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
where's the weep hole on water pump on 6nz?

Mine was on the very bottom of it, had a piece of sponge in there as well.

Impeller on water pump slipping. Happens sometimes on water pumps that use a threaded nut to hold impeller to gear.
-
I have heard of this happening. Is the best way to attack that by checking the thermostats first, then going into the water pump housing or would you check that before thermostats?
-
By the way, we did find the weep hold and it looked clean.

the problem is the weep hole only indicates a problem with the water pump seal. the impeller can be spinning on the shaft without the seal leaking on the weep hole. turn on the heater. heater won't blow hot air if the water pump is not circulating coolant but will with the thermostats closed.
t-stats are a good preventative measure i would change them regardless of weather you find the water pump is the problem or notSAR and snowman_w900 Thank this. -
weep hole is easy to find if bad just look for the fluid dripping out lol glad ya found it

That is exactly what we found. On the very bottom with a piece of white foam in it. I had read they were on the back so that is where we were concentrating our search. Thanks a lot.

The propeller on a water pump is press fit on a tapered shaft in those pumps. It won't leak out the weep hole if that is the issue. It is that or t- stats. I would lean pump. You have two t-stats and it is very unlikely both stuck at the same time.
