You guys have been very helpful so I'm going to take it a step further. Unfortunately the guy had it partially apart before I could check the heater deal out that Ezrider recommended. My question is if the impeller is not loose on the shaft and the seal is not leaking, can there still be something wrong with the water pump for it not to be working? (Even though, I don't think we would want to put the old one back on after getting to it, but it would be nice to know that it was bad before we get it all back together).

The guy just about has the old water pump off. I'm going that route first and hope it's right. Some Cat service reps told me they have never heard of C-15 thermostats sticking shut so hope they are right.

If it isn't slipping and not leaking out the weep hole there is nothing wrong with it. Unless you stripped teeth off the gear drive. Then you have a whole other problem!!!

He finally got it off. The impeller is spinning on the shaft even though the nut is tight. Now if this rebuilt one will last another eighteen years like the old one did, I'll be a happy camper.

Thanks again for all the responses.

Don't be surprised if the new one weeps some at first it is common.

Yes sir. There was a note in the box that it would leak some at first. Thanks again.
