Whenever i see a pump offload on the BOL or Travel Order I always call dispatch and/or customer to verify. I had one a few months ago it said pump offload 60' of hose but when I called they said the 60' was from my pump to their connection, so I would have been short 40'. Called dispatch to inform them of this because most of the pool trailers have smallish tubes that wont hold 100' of 3" anyways.

I had a load like that once. Flammable resin, 40 ft 3” pump off from a rear unload trailer with those small tubes. It was a back haul from California that delivered about 60 miles from Memphis. I staged at the terminal and was barely able to get enough hoses in the tubes it was such a tight fit.

The delivery was to a construction site with soft gravel so I couldn’t drop the trailer. After delivery the hoses absolutely would not go back in the tubes. They were just a little bigger with product in them and caps. Wound up leaving 2 at the delivery point and telling Memphis dispatch they needed to send a shop truck out to get them. He got a little pissy about that telling me they cost $600 each but what can you do. I wasn’t about to bungee them to the catwalk with a hazmat load.

I bungeed a 3 " hose to the storage tube when that happened to me. Couldn't get that thing back into the tube no matter how hard I tried.

I considered it but knew my tankwash would be in West Memphis and that scale is always open.

I've done that a lot. I've also ran ISO tanks and bunged 120' to the different cat walks. Actually......i think I used straps.

    Mortarmaggot Thanks this.
