Last load for these guys. Gave my 2 week notice 2 weeks ago. Back im december After a year of snot loads in Texas, the account was run into the ground by our new dispatcher (a former driver here) alternating load times, morning one day and evening the next, so you're one traffic delay from being late, and then the horrendous wait times to load. The last 2 weeks I was there, I had 50 hours of wait time on 5 loads, with one being 21 hours parked on a street outside the plant before I was called in.

Guess how much detention I made on that one........$50

Instead of paying detention,my company just paid layover. Then 2 other times, the wait was 10 hours so they didn't pay those, because,"you can count those as your break", but then paid me detention for an 8 hour delay on the 5th load.

I said that's it, I done with staying down here for months at a time. And told them I was leaving. They offered me a local job which I accepted in January and then in the middle of febFebru, I was still in Texas with not a single word about the new gig starting.

I finally get an answer that "Sorry, it didn't happen"

But they bring me home and offer me another localish m-f job hauling double tanks, servicing the mines in Nevada and then offer a whole $0.48 a mile to do that. then after I accept, I find out it's actually a floater position where I'm going to be doing a bunch of different things feeling in for people who are sick and whatnot. So I'd be working up to 7 days a week not being at home because some of those were multi-day runs.

I told them to bump the pay up to $0.50 a mile and I would do it, knowing that they wouldn't. I told them I was making $0.50 a mile hauling doubles in 2006 so why would I take .48 12 years later and do more work. I told them I didn't build my career to work more for Less and got stunned silence after I said that.

Nobody has said a single word to me since last Monday. I'm going to drop the truck off tomorrow morning and there isn't anybody there. They didn't offer an exit interview or any paperwork for me to fill out. I don't even know if I'm supposed to show up Monday for anything.

I'm just going to go on vacation for a couple of weeks and get the sour taste of the past year and a half out of my mouth. I have several job offers in Texas,Louisiana, Oregon, and here in Utah. Jist need to finally decide where I want to go.

The upside was my final load was in farmington, nm, at the Navajo Mesa Farms, right out in the fields. Stunningly beautiful. Now I have a beautiful ride home to look forward to.

Sorry I haven't posted in so long. Just was to grouchy and depressed.

    Hope you're all well. IMG_20180330_093043601.jpg

Yup, definetly sounded like it was time for you to move on. With your driving record you can pretty much name your price and location. Good luck with your next adventure!

@scythe08 keep us updated where you land. It certainly sounds like you were being shafted for too long.

Leaving on a N Chicago Dry Bulk out and back Tuesday morning. Got in last night so pretty much ran the holiday. Going to be almost exactly a 34 hour reset with today off. Hopefully I will get a real weekend off next week. These 3 day 15-1900 mile loads aren't bad with a 34 at home in between each one though.

19d must have lost his phone. That purty pick up truck was still on the yard when I got in last night

My Tues-Thurs out and back turned into a Tues-Friday. Got a call 400 miles down the road Tues saying the load wouldn't be ready until Thursday. Dropped my trailer at the plant and hung out at a Walmart a couple miles away. This was a 1500 mile week plus $160 for the layover. Heading out Monday to Kansas City and back. Should get home Thursday.

Loving this full weekend home. I asked for Sat and Sunday off next week too so might get a full 3 day weekend.

Yesterday turned out to be quite the adventure for me. Got to Sprague's in Searsport to load caustic and nothing would happen. Turned out the dead man quit, so I waited for them to replace that. Then got up to the mill in Jay and started unloading. Everything was fine until I was close to being done, and then caustic started going everywhere! The gasket, where the external valve bolts onto the product discharge pipe, let go. All I can say is, GOOD TIMES!
