Another interesting day, sitting in Waukesha Wi.
Waiting to deliver another drivers boo boo
A 1000 lbs of heel was left in the tank.
Its completely a no touch load so the customer is at fault, but so is the driver for not checking before leaving.

This customer has us scale heavy and light at an off site scale. Looks lime it was 2000 lbs. Which is around 200 or so gallons and lost a lot of its temperature so the stuff was as thick as honey. Waited for a truck uinloading ahead of me waited for lab approval and then the off load. 3 1/2 hrs. Later rolling.
11 easy hrs. For me today

I had a short 6 hr day today. Bobtailed down to Auburn, ME. and picked up a load of bleach going to Westbrook, ME. I unloaded, returned the trailer, got fuel, and then went home. Got the next two days off.

The last 4 days I hauled caustic. Now we take 4950 gals. a load and I use a 5400 gal. trailer, so there's no need to worry about running the trailer over. However we do have some 5000 gal. trailers, so Tues. morning I'm waiting for one of my coworkers to load. He has a 5000 gal. trailer and instead of stopping at 4950, runs the trailer over and had caustic running all over. Took an hour for Sprague to clean up so I could load. What a wonderful way to start the day.

That sucks..... at least bleach is cleaner than asphalt~! (my EX co worker did THAT a few years ago; I was on the catwalk beside him and couldn't scream LOUD enough, nor jump far enough.) Carelessness does NOT belong in this aspect (or any!) of this industry, #####.

They preached to me from day one to always check the tank for heel before departing. Pretty much if I came back with heel witouth checking I will be chared for cleaning the tank.

Because we haul the same product repeatedly, 2 kinds in 2 different trailers; heel is not so much an issue for US, but for "bill backs" from the customer. Many of my drops are "unmanned" when I pump off.... and if they call byatching the next day or 3 that they are 100 gallons short... it's on ME. And somehow that "lost product" is "back in the system..." and I'll get charged.

Happened to me ONCE.... and ONLY once. Wasn't even 100 gals, but enough Benjamins to teach me a lesson~!

We actually DO get our tanks washed about every quarter, just for integrity purposes; however with the rain this spring, we may step it up a bit... it's gonna be a LONNNNNNNG SUMMER & fall~! :)
