I don't have a car and the trucking school that I want to go to (Suburban school in Romulus, Mi -- has loan program) is 22 miles from my home. To pay for lodging would be $350 for the duration of the school. Rather than pay that, I thought I should buy a moped or goped to commute there, or ride a bike if it's possible.
Could I ride the bicycle on the highway for 22 miles for... how much time would that take, i'm guessing like an hour and half? and then the same amount of time coming back.. for 2 1/2 weeks?
I guess I'm leaning towards gopeds because
- it could easily fit in the truck so that I could use it to commute later from my truck drop-off-place to my house
- it requires you to stand while riding and sitting is bad for the back
- better gas mileage
Whether to commute to truck school on moped or goped

Maybe you can carpool. I am sure you are not going to be the only one in school. Somebody must be on the way or going the same direction as you. Maybe even an instructor or employee can help you out.

Have you thought about a ride share with another student maybe...can you find out who else might be in the same class and see if someone else might need help with fuel you can also post on craigslist that your looking for a ride from such and such date to destination and back..HTH

Sorry, I'm a fast typer! Sounded like a good idea to me though!

Depends on the highway. I know in MO you can not ride a bicycle on the interstate.

Buy a nice older motorcycle if you have money for a moped! It doesn't have to be a HD or V twin as long as it goes fast enough not to get run over! Yeah you'll have to get the M endorsement but WTH! Whats a goped? A bicyle with a motor?

Its illegal to ride a bike or anything under 250cc on a michigan highway.
