I like surface mount stuff. It's a lot more difficult for the parts to jiggle loose..
When that stuff first came out Mark wasn't too fond of it but he's broadening his Horizons and he's become quite proficient at soldering that stuffslim6596 and bored silly Thank this. -

the design and some of the many features both those radios have are ahead of their time.... it should be obvious by now mosfets are not going anywhere..... they've been in car stereos forever too.
-
Much to the dismay of true audiophiles

nothing wrong with mosfets at all in the car stereo world your deck gives you what those mosfets do nothing more nothing less there's no turning them up jacking them up at all. thats why alot of people opt for a amp big or small... cb wise they turn up burn up the finals setting the deadkey too high and turning up the radio more than it should be turned up the finals/mosfets are rated for only so many watts all of them ......... example a irf 520 mosfet is good for 25/28 watts that it.. theres were keeping your swrs in check keeps your radio happy and your finals/mosfets from burning up overdrive anything that can't handle the power.... your done

2 of my radios use erf 7530 mosfets each one is Rated at 20watts rms 75 watts pep I know what's in my radios I can read sometimes I'm old

More amplification stages always results in lower fidelity. That is why audiophiles prefer a single tube over 28 mosfets
-
28 mosfets is overkill in anything same as too many pills in anything... total overkill and insanity... maybe not for a hammy bone
