Was just wondering what carrier is a safe start for a new owner operator.
    Competitive pay. Good freight.
    Good lanes etc.

There's nothing "Safe" about being a business owner. It's risky.

    TX2Day and Spartan91573 Thank this.

Screen them out 1st to the best of your ability. The Trucking Industry now is at high risk unless a carrier operates with 95% Direct contractual customers. More times then less they're conning Owner operators to lease to them but scheming off the top by inflating their insurance rate and other expenses to you. Genuine transparency with rate cons is a necessity as well. Communication with their dispatchers is extremely essential or else even with everything else looking progressively profitable it goes south fast when they hold back better lanes and loads.
