when i started a few months ago i boughtthe cheapest uniden on sale at loves for $35 just a volume and a squelch dial. So in my KW T700 I am all prewired with an antenna external speaker etc. My squelch is always so high to get rid of noise i dont hear much will a better radio reduce the noise or is the prewired coak the problem.I cant change the set up or antenna or at least unwilling to. Just dont wanna buy a better radio if it wont help

Predator double coil standard (not short whip)
    Wilson 2k
    Skipshooter 4' fiberglass
    FirstikII 4' or firefly 4'
    Francis 4'

These are listed in typical order of performance. They do not always tune best in that order on every truck.

Ranger is a full featured radio with no toys
stryker is an attractive good talking radio with toys (echo/talkback/chanels/beeps)
uniden 880 is a modern cb with weather, best in it's class

FACT IS no one without a general class HAM license is allowed on 12 meters ( 24.890 - 24.990 mhz ) and on 28.000 - 29.700 mhz on 10 meters ....

Tech class can use 28.300 - 28.500 for SSB.

There is no " freeband " however outside of the HAM bands that's a FCC problem ...
