I have to assume marrowbone boy didn't read the articles he referenced. Had he read these he would have seen these:

    http://www.qsouk.com/t247-freebanding

"To begin with, the word Freeband seems now to be both a verb and a proper noun. "Freebanding" is the act of operating HF equipment illegally on an 11-meter frequency, usually in SSB, and primarily in or slightly above the Citizen's Band (26.965-27.405 MHz)."

""Freeband" also refers to the band itself, just above the CB and below the 10-meter amateur band (28 MHz). It is important to understand that a Freebander is distinguished from an illegal CB'er by the fact he uses a modified general coverage HF transceiver for his illicit operation while the CB'er uses an extended coverage channelized CB. The difference may at first seem trivial, but is actually quite significant to our hobby. "

    http://www.eham.net/articles/6674

    Same article as http://www.qsouk.com/t247-freebanding

"That is because it is a flagrant violation of law, which demonstrates lack of respect. "

"In my humble opinion what it really comes down to is that operating on the so called "FREEBAND" is still illegal, period. And of course the band is NOT unused, there are a number of legal users, just because you dont hear them does not mean they are not there.
If a "FreeBander" is willing to violate this law what other rules/laws dealing with radio will they violate? And yes I did start in CB years ago. I realized that there was something more than echo boxes, crappy signals, endless CQ's, ghost talkers, over modulation, ect. and moved on to ham and have never looked back."

I'm sorry if my post offended you, please stick around and learn.Go back and read your post that I quoted, it was you who stated that the FCC opened up "freeband" frequencies for unlicensed operations, which is false.I know I am not the smartest person but I consider learning a never ending lifelong process and love to learn. There is a good group of radio hobbyists here, both hams and CB'ers, feel free to stay on board and join in.once again sorry for my post.

No idea what you meen ....

The ITU sent the band limits the FCC enforces them as a rule ....

The ONLY reason freebanding exsists is between 27.400 - 27.995 mhz there are few licensed users ....

as long as they stay out of the ham bends it''s not a HAM RADIO problem
It's a FCC problem and Laura Smth has said so ..... SHE will and does go after the ones who can't resist going on bands like 10 meters ...

FCC does not enforce ####!!! They dont care as long as you dont go into the ham bands. The bands are set!!! We have been using them for over 2 years and nothing has ever been said. We even have hams come down and talk to us at times.
Instead of acting like its the worst thing ever, go try it out and see for your self. 27,555 up to 28.015 is where we hang out.You would be more likely to make a contact around 27.555.0. My Icom 746 pro covers 6 meters to 160 meters. Its been converted for 11 meters because hams dont use them.n

You come here and in less than a week you start with name calling and lying you are a very sad case. You sound like CJ to me with your Bogus statements. Then Lie that you didn't say it.
Such as If you look online for Free Banding Freqs you will see that the FCC has opened up alot of the 10 and 12 meter bands for use buy the average CB user do to these bands no longer being used by liecened operaters. No such thing.
You need to stop the un-truths.

I do know Laura Smith. And she said if she catches you, you'll wish that you never heard of the word freeband. She also said if you'll call her. She will prove it! She also said for me to give you her number. :biggrin_255:

I've worked a few Lima Victor stations in the 19,26 and 29 divisions and they all seemed to be good operators, I doubt they would be freebanding above 28 MHz.Most serious "freebanders" I know respect the amateur band limits and all "freeband" groups I know of do not condone operating inside any amateur band illegally using their club issued callsigns.
