    The median household income in the U.S. is just under $75,000. If the OP has a spouse that works and lives in a state with a reasonable cost of living, they'd do just fine making $54k and having half the year off.

    All the oilfield haulers I know are either 5/2 then a 5/3 or are a straight 6/2.

    I was doing a 14/7. Wasn’t too bad, but had to watch the hours of service the first 7 days. Although it was 14 straight days on duty, if too many hours early, it cut into the ot hours in the latter days of the 14. The Mrs. got fed-up with me being away 14 days, and I promised to do a year, and it was 2 years, coupled with the fact I had been working full time since 15 yrs old, except for school days. This past May 30 was my last day of employment. Will start drawing SS in November.
