Be careful with this advice. What you posted is true, however you failed to accurately convey the full FMCSA regs here. Yes, with a valid prescription you can have these kinds of substances in your body. HOWEVER you CAN NOT be ON DUTY DRIVING unless it has also been approved by a FMCSA registered examiner.

Pay attention to how this is worded on the FMCSA website.

What medications disqualify a CMV driver?



A driver cannot take a controlled substance or prescription medication without a prescription from a licensed practitioner.
If a driver uses a drug identified in 21 CFR 1308.11 (391.42(b)(12)) or any other substance such as amphetamine, a narcotic, or any other habit forming drug, The driver is medically unqualified.
There is an exception: the prescribing doctor can write that the driver is safe to be a commercial driver while taking the medication. In this case, the Medical Examiner may, but does not have to certify the driver.
Any anti-seizure medication used for the prevention of seizures is disqualifying.
The Medical Examiner has 2 ways to determine if any medication a driver uses will adversely affect safe operation of a CMV:
1. Review each medication - prescription, non-prescription and supplement
2. Request a letter from the prescribing doctor

This is the most ridiculous post I’ve ever read here. The highlighted part is just epic! No, you will NOT pass a urine test if you smoke every time you drive, regardless of your super duper metabolism! Lol.

I’m all in favor of legalizing weed federally, but you will NOT pass a urinalysis right now if you smoke every day like you say.

 

I agree with your post. However I think I see what that poster was trying to say. There are a lot of drivers that fall through the cracks on the testing. Many will go through their whole careers smoking and might never get caught. I am not calling any names but I know several company's that will tell a driver they know smokes to beware to stop smoking for a while because they need to test them OR do the testing themselves and substitute clean urine for testing. No system is perfect. I also thought about my last post some today. There really is no real way to stop someone from driving even with a prescription. However over the last 30 or so years people have become increasingly litigious. Get involved in a bad accident get tested you might get a serious fine and cost your company millions. This what if applies to EVERYBODY!

 

Sorry you find it so ridicules that I can have a clean system in 2 hrs if I wanted to. I have done it for probation numerous times. It is only unbelievable for someone that couldn't possibly do it.

 

Piss test ain't nuttin for me. Thank you. And telling me I can't handle a truck while I smoke like I do, is like telling someone that smokes cigarettes or chews tobacco that they can't handle their truck because of it. I would know. I used to smoke cigarettes and used to chew and you a much biggerather buzz from one of those two then I do from smoking ten joints a day. Your idea sor sorry to say is as ridicules as mine is in my eyes.

 

What you think just because I medicate that I stay stuck in my house all day. Man your tripping. I have owned my own businesses and hauled loads of my own brother.

I'm trying to decide whether you're a troll, a 12 year old kid, or just a normal run of the mill idiot.
