I guess I missed something on your McDonald's post because I agree with this completely. Was that tongue-in -cheek?

This may be true. But I’ve also never seen an aircraft carrier on the interstate. How can u compare a few hundred thousand dollar truck to a multi million dollar aircraft carrier? If we are being technical. Just saying.

You see where I'm going with this. Yeah my trainer can sleep while me being green and not knowing a #### thing about dragging a 50,000 lbs 53 footer around. Meanwhile theres no way in hell I'm going to sleep behind someone with years of experience driving a big truck. Starting to side with @x1Heavy thinking this must be some sort of troll !

There is a big difference between riding in and sleeping in a moving vehicle.

There is a larger difference between the quality of sleep I get in a moving vehicle to that of a stationary one. I know that I will not get good rest in a moving vehicle, thus I made sure that the company I chose did not do team style training. Why attack the OP for not wanting to do something that a significant portion of the industry thinks is counter productive?

Stevens Transport in Dallas, TX got rid of their “dumb-and-dumber” teams a few years ago. Now, it’s about 5 weeks with a trainer, who has at least 1 year solo experience, but plenty of trainers have more, especially the owner operator trainers.

I don't know how a car driver can learn this job without riding with a trainer. Good luck.

There is a difference between riding with a trainer and team driving. The op does not want to team.

Daycab companies might be the answer. You sleep at home, report for work, train, go home.

My tanker company uses single bunk sleeper trucks. You ride with the trainer, get a hotel, keep driving until you deliver and return home. Maybe the OP can ask companies if that's how they train.
