i have been told that companies either get a tax break or money from government for each student they bring in. but they don't care they get so many students coming in they can treat them like they work in a sweat shop and pay the wages like in a sweat shop. what is 400-500 when working 70hrs. these companies know this. this is why most students are let go after they finish training or sent home till the company find a truck for them and then fired. companies get over on students they help them deliver their loads for a couple of pennies. this is the greatest form of slavery and its completely legal.

Isn't it about time that truckers form a group or use OOIDA to lobby for hourly or salaried pay???? In my experience, too many drivers have a "work ethic" that prevents them from standing up for themselves.

Are you listening to yourself? ... salary in the classic OTR job description??
Nothing preventing anybody from "standing up for themselves". Anyone feels they are being "mistreated", they are free to move on and go elsewhere or to never have applied there in the first place. There is too much information out there today. No one can use the excuse "I didn't know it would be this way" any more. So there should be no surprises and if there are, it's on the driver, not on the industry or the carrier.

yea true drivers have a "work ethic" its called living pay check to pay check. trucking companies know exactly what they are doing. they will give u a couple of good weeks. and like most Americans we pay as many bills as we can with them checks and the bad weeks be barley enough to cover 1 bill. this is how they keep most drivers quiet. because 9 times out of 10 majority of company drivers are living pay check to pay check. then if god forbid u do take a stand they got so many drivers coming out of driving school. company drivers know that they can be replaced very easily. until somebody can produce actual results and not promises I will not put my job up for sacrifice. because BABY GIRL GOT TO EAT!!!

i don't know if the govt subsity would hold true. considering that half the megas sold to half the megas this year.

maybe not half. but there's gotta be some type of reason why whose that sold. did.
