I am considering buying a 5th wheel RV that way I can dramatically decrease my living costs since I am single and only need a place to stay once in a while (not yet a CDL driver but am planning this out). I want to have a semi permanent place of residence where all my stuff is, but I want to be able to move that place of residence to live a nomadic life. When I am over the road I would leave the truck/RV at the terminal and then when I am "home" I would take the RV to a camp site for $30-50 a night and enjoy a few days off like I am on vacation. Would most companies allow that?
Which companies would let you park an RV at their terminal while you are over the road?

I’ve actually known drivers that have done this. Usually, it’s with a smaller towable rv, but I’ve seen big Fifth wheels as well. It really just depends on your company and the space availability for parking that they have. Honestly shouldn’t be that hard to find. Company that would allow it. Now, if you start inviting a bunch of people over throwing parties and having a big bonfire or something in their parking lot, of course they’ll probably say something about that but if you’re just storing it there and occasionally staying there as long as they got the space they probably would allow it.

You don't just want to park your car/truck at the terminal, you want to take up a full space that a semi-trailer would take for your personal use when you are on the road? Good luck with that.
And good luck with not finding some kind of damage done to your truck/RV when you return for home time.
Those spots are premium parking, especially at certain times of the year.
A driver goes to the terminal in the hope of finding a parking spot.
But space is limited, even or especially in the largest terminals.
When it is noticed that a personal vehicle is hogging a space meant for... and there are no other spaces open to park in... some drivers might get a bit angry.
Your best bet is to find/pay for a place to park your RV nearby, and use a regular parking space set aside for drivers at your terminal for your truck.Bean Jr. Thanks this. -
Yeah I think I talked myself out of idea living in an RV would suck anyways You're better off just living in a hotel

Yep, this is why I said smaller towable RV that probably fits in a standard parking spot where your vehicle would go anyhow, I’ve seen that. But rarely a giant fifth wheel that you gotta take up a truck parking spot with.

I did that for years..... storage unit and motel 6TripleSix Thanks this.

It just depends on the type of company you work for. Several of our yards have at least one personal trailer there. It’s not a big deal, no one throws a fit over it.Lonesome, TripleSix, JohnBoy and 1 other person Thank this.

Strange things have happened. Guy lived moved a couple states away from his job. But decent retirement. So he bought a van with bunks. Used work kitchen, locker room, laundry. Soon had two other guys doing same. They slept/lived in that van. Worked 16 hour, 8 off. Then home for week. At a place that I can't say as really should not have been allowed. They could not use a RV.. boss, supervisor knew but allowed. He sold van to two other guys when he retired.

Likley will depend on the size of the Rv
a smaller van based one like a road trek or a slide in truck bed camper would have much more likely chance of being allowed since it would fit in the normal car parking spaces
a 40 foot fifth wheel with three slide outs is a while different deal .navypoppop Thanks this.
