I've talked to Roehl and am considering moving to the east coast to work for them. They seem to have a good reputation and training among other drivers here. Schneider has good traing I hear, but I wonder about money with them... they have stopped hiring here in AZ for example... and have heard of drivers sitting waiting for loads. Your union? Go on the union job board.. you have jobs out there as well as training.

Newbies have to face the facts . You won't get a good job out of school . The good carriers having a stack of applications from drivers with 2 years or more OTR . The CEO told a House Transportation Committee their level of pay was actually less than it was in the 80's and said the answer to the driver shortage was eased immigration laws .

I cant speak for schneider but i can for Roehl.I recently left roehl but on good terms. Once i proved myself(1 month) I got good miles. I ran national flat and I ran between 3200-3500 a week. They have a lot of different hometime options. If you want to make money, dont mess around.(run when its legal, stop when you have to.) if you work hard you will get out of it what you put into it. If I had to get back into trucking Roehl would be my first call. They kept all of their promises and their word. Alot of good people work there.

Thank you. They seemed good to me for a start company but then read a series of things from guys really ticked about sitting and not getting miles...

One other thing that did bother me with them was, I have my CDL and am returning to the school for retraining since I haven't driven in 4 years... and it is an CDL approved school (it's thru the community college system as well). Roehl wanted me to pay $4000 for their school also... I said no. lol Thanks again for the response.

The best one is the one you get hired by and you like them. What one guy likes maybe different than the other. For any of us really say which one the best is hard to say which is best one for you.

    Good luck in your search....
