Most family dollar stores I've seen are like dollar general stores. Getting a truck in and out of them, especially during the stores normal business hours would be a real challenge. They aren't really made for trucks. Some of them don't have a dock. Tailgate service. And usually lots of drops. You'd earn your 55cpm. I think I'd rather tarp. A lot.

I used to work for Maverick. I left for personal reasons. They always treated me fairly. I was flatbed but wish I had gone glass. You get better pay and longer runs with glass. Go Maverick glass. You won't regret it.

In the glass division, are they married to a trailer or do they switch trailers? If you are married to the same trailer, it makes it easier to 'work smarter, not harder'.

I don't know for sure as I was not in glass division but regular flatbed but my guess is you keep the trailer except for when you do a repower or you get a preloaded trailer. That is how it was in flatbed division.

If you want to do flat, stay away from Stevens. I spent several years there, never treated me wrong, but switched to a flat company earlier this year and can't believe the difference. Also, with flat you will have no issue getting home or getting rolling from Buffalo. I've heard mostly good about Maverick, but check into TMC as well. I've known a few drivers at both, they seemed happy overall.

Maverick for sure. If I was on the East coast I'd go with them. Stay away from the mainstream carriers..I almost went with Werner and Swift myself right out of CDL school. Took me nearly 2 months but I lucked out and found a small family run company that accepted my cdl graduation diploma. There are lots around just got to dig through the net and find them.
