Avoid company training schools . Even with best intentions there are too many potential causes you will not be able to complete your contract and you will be billed for the school .
I don't think Watkins & Shepard is a good choice for a newbie . They do a lot of furniture and carpet deliveries and back for deliveries at small in town stores can be a challenge .
Schneider tank would be a good choice . Once you get experience you could move on to a better carrier . Tanks pay much better than OTR van and more regional work is available . Delays are minimal and detention time is paid .

also mot of the companies you mention have there trucks governed down so much and you will always be being passed. You can say that won't bother but it will! I look over at the drivers when I pass them and they have a sad face on. Oh and there so ashamed they won't look over at yea.

Do what? I loved being governed at 62. Kick back and putt along. I passed people. Schneider, USA, others.

Governed speed is not an issue with me. I don't get in a hurry very often.

I now have received an offer from TMC. The recruiter said that I would be home 46 weekends each year and that they offer the option of getting paid by the mile (starting at 0.35) or getting paid a percentage of the load (23%). Any thoughts on this?

Not starting out. They are home a lot from the locals I've seen.

Now you're not saying the recruiter is trying to hoodwink me, are you?
