Avoid company training schools . Even with best intentions there are too many potential causes you will not be able to complete your contract and you will be billed for the school .
I don't think Watkins & Shepard is a good choice for a newbie . They do a lot of furniture and carpet deliveries and back for deliveries at small in town stores can be a challenge .
Schneider tank would be a good choice . Once you get experience you could move on to a better carrier . Tanks pay much better than OTR van and more regional work is available . Delays are minimal and detention time is paid .
Which Company to Choose?

Blue Knight,
Talk to people that work for the companies. Chances are they will not sugarcoat you on whats going on. JBS is reefer but their training program is good and very structured. So is EPES. I for one would not touch Western Express. Here are some links to threads:

Go with the tankers, you cant make a better choice.

Governed speed is not an issue with me. I don't get in a hurry very often.

I now have received an offer from TMC. The recruiter said that I would be home 46 weekends each year and that they offer the option of getting paid by the mile (starting at 0.35) or getting paid a percentage of the load (23%). Any thoughts on this?
