Which Company, What to do to prepare?

    Yeah fellow buckeye, I don't get that either. It seems there are noobs making decent money their first year, you just have to do some research and ignore the polished recruiting posters and brochures. And you don't have to be out months at a time either.

    I've talked to plenty of drivers from TMC, maverick, etc, who did well. I started with Schneider bulk and did well. I'm surprised to see that shaffer pays that well. I guess if you just submit to that way of thinking, don't do any research ,, and plan to not make money, you probably wont. Of course, location has a lot to do with it too.

    I've just listened to a lot of the bull crap 35,000$ to me is even good considering I make about 18,000-19,000 right now and make it work.

    I have looked at stevens before actually, but I would be locked into a contract for 28 months if I went to there school, when I could get experience else where for 12-18 month and move forward into a better company or even local.

    If you want to flatbed, start off with a flatbed company.

    There are plenty companies out there that train steel haulers. Flats, steps, covered wagon, conestoga...

    Why is it that, a lot of folks like going flat bed? I figured it was the way to go.
