    Hello friends,

I have a 2010 Kenworth T800 Cummins isx(may 2009) which is due for a rebuild. I have three companies from where I am planning to get a kit from. One is “Engine Parts Canada” which is the cheapest option sitting at 4900 CAD. Second, is from Kenworth where the same kit costs 6300CAD. And lastly, from Cummins itself where the kit costs 8000CAD. Based on your professional opinion and experience. Which company should I get it from because I am unaware of the quality in each kit.

Please get back to me at your earliest convenience.

    Thank you.

Myself, I wouldn't put aftermarket parts in.

ISX = OE only. Unless you love doing the job yearly.

Why is Kenworth trying to sell you an aftermarket kit?

They should have the Cummins kit available or be able to order it, and they are usually cheaper than buying direct from Cummins.

Mine's 14 years old, and about to hit 900k. How long is "long"?

Some of those had problems with carbon packing. That is on the piston above the top ring and it polishes the liner. Then they start passing enough oil to stop up the DPF. Cummins made changes to their piston design to correct that problem.
I use a lot of aftermarket parts. Clevite, PAI and Max Force with great results. However if the OEM has struggled with piston designs for their own engine I would not buy aftermarket parts for that. Get the Cummings kit from and dealer not Cummins. The price structure alloys them to mark it up and sell it for less than OEM to you as others stated. Shop it around.

Kenworth and Cummins are OEM kits. Are Engine Parts Canada kits OEM and what kind of *warranty do they offer?

Cummins will always be more expensive than its distributors.
    I would go with Kenworth.
