Great point windsmith. Given today's price of fuel a 5cpg profit would translate into about 1.3%>hardly monumental by any stretch.
Which fuel network gives you best discounts?

This year my average price I have paid for fuel is $3.65 after my discount. That is mostly at Pilot and Flying J. I have seen as high of a discount as .55 off pump price. That is using the cost plus discount my company gets and they are about a 300 truck company.

How many members does NASTC have?
If they have more than any of the mega fleets they need to fire their fuel discount negotiator. -
I think it's odd that OOIDA doesn't offer a very good fuel card program for the O/O members. Seems like they should be able to run a program that would be as good as any of the large fleets and pass the savings on to the member.
I get a very good discount through the fuel card program at my factoring company. It's an EFS card with cost plus pricing at TA/Petro/Sapp Bros and most AmBest. I get .05 off cash price at Pilot/J. It's really the only reason I'm still using factoring because with the fuel program I get my cash quick for free basically. My December discount average was .37 per gallon. -

A little off subject, yesterdays fuel import had a 2.998 fuel ticket in Cheyenne. Been awhile since i've seen under 3.00

If they commmitted only to TA/Petro, there'd be areas with little coverage (I-90 from Spokane WA to Fargo, ND most notably). -
Others that are willing to sit and figure it out please post what your avg price was you paid for the year...After seeing this thread i sat down and figured mine and it came out to 3.826 for the year and that was just using smartphone apps to find the cheapest cash price on the route...My IFTA is about 250$ for the year..I do all 48 but its mostly the central states north to south....subscribed!

we are a small outfit. 35 trucks. our discount seems to be anywhere for .30 to .50. flying j and pilot. tch cards.
our trips are out and back. we only buy enough to get us back to our own fuel. which is a good thing too. as my regen kicks in a lot when i'm running J fuel. i have tons more steam in this cold weather with J fuel then i do with shop fuel. -
Avg price is irrelevant because everyone buys fuel in different states so pump tax varies greatly.
avg base price would be more like comparing apples to apples.
I normally haven't paid over 3.50 just guessing for 2012 and that's minus fuel discount but includes pump IFTA. I always try to buy in IN, VA or TN Just based on where I run.
