Shoot forgot to tell u the rest. Northland, I just use bobtail and liability 1,000,000, ded 1000. I pay 2027.00/yr on 40,000 tractor. My ded goes down if I don't use it, currently at 300.00. They also have a roadside assistance policy for 299.00/yr. Towing up to 50 miles free. Jump start, fuel jelled, flat tire, belts hoses, etc..... Just like AAA for cars. Yes highly recomend. I was thinking about getting my own authority, asked them for cargo. I was given a quote of 4700.00/yr. Your credential may be different than mine, that could increase or decrease the price. Good luck

I called Progressive for a quote a couple of days ago, and I'm NOT an O/O yet but they quoted be $2,910 for 1mil non-trucking liability and phys. damage with $1,000 deductible, on a truck worth $25,000. It's $2,500 if I pay it all in full from the start. If I don't pay it up front, then it's $2,910 including a $580 down payment.

This is with having a CDL for at least 3 years, no accidents, no tickets. I'm wondering if this is high or low?

Thats in the ballpark figure. You didnt add the other stuff that goes with the physical damages like collision and unisured motorist which should add up another $900 to $1000. Then your gonna need Cargo, mine is $700 for $100.000.

I don't know about any of that, she just gave me a quote after asking a bunch of questions, I'm not sure whether or not that was added in.

I don't need cargo insurance and primary liability if I lease to another carrier, who ought to have that already, right? If I have to buy those, I might as well just get my full authority, but I'm not going to even TRY that route until I've been an O/O for a while and learn that side of the industry like the back of my hand.

Hoping to have a little more saved up in a couple of months so that I'll be comfortable buying a truck, and leasing it onto somewhere that offers a % pay. I don't think Bill is interested, he hasn't returned my e-mails with the couple of questions I had, so I've been looking at some other companies, and none of them require the truck owner to have their own cargo insurance. And besides, I don't think I'd feel comfortable owning a trailer at this point in time anyhow, so no insurance need to cover damage on the trailer.

The company you are leased to usually only covers liability and cargo. You will have to cover the physical damage yourself but the company usually offers it thru a third party and will deduct from your settlement. I just went thru this myself there was to much bs with leasing to this company so I just sucked it up and got my own authority. Im paying $9300 a yr for liability, cargo, physical damage.
