Get a truck you're going to be happy driving. Freightlines are cheaply built piles of junk imo. Older drivers will tell you they used to make good trucks but not anymore. Stay away from '04 and up emissions compliant engines.

    Panhandlepat,

Set you a pm. Also, if you intend on running into cali, check out their emissions laws. I agree with Brick a T6 would do the job but have it checked out for water leaks if you buy one with the sunroof.

I'd buy a new Pete w/18 over, and 500 CAT and write it off over 4 years, then buy a new one. It depreciates to about $40,000, use that a s trade in money. It is still under warranty and should look good if you keep it polished and wash it once a week. I ran mine 436,000 mi and the doors hinges were getting worn and the hood was wearing around the edges. Now after another 4 years you can buy 2 new ones.

BTW, I'd buy one longer than 265 in WB as the joints in the interstate aer 260in apart and the shorter you are the more you bounce. I hear guys say, "Well, it's hard to back in with a long truck." I never had too much trouble.

    maybe so...
but if you look close at used truck sales like i do,the volvo 770-780 are becoming the better resale truck value all around...if you have never driven one,you should try it,
as far as creature comforts they are the best, they might weigh a bit more than your classic pete but dont haul heavy freight...
i have owned or operated just about every truck-tractor made and i prefer
the volvo for an abundance of logical reasons.
i have always been a chevy man
i agree with the wheelbase statement 100%:biggrin_25514:
