I was going to title this "Which is better?" but then thought what if none are any better then the other.

Anyways im new to this forum. I start school monday at USTDTS here in michigan one week from monday and have been giving these choices as the prehire companies i have to choose from. I was told today that all of these want to hire me i just need to make a decision on which.

    They are

    Swift
    Stephens Transport
    Werner
    Covenant Transport
    England

My main concerns are does anyone know if any of these let you take the truck home during your home time and which would be the best to start off with being a new hire fresh out of school?

I look forward to any responses and cant wait to start learning what they have to teach me
    Thanks for any help

well there are some good there are some good threads on all of those companies.

From what I've seen on the forum...the best companies for new guys out of the five you have listed seem to be Swift and Stevens. I may suggest looking into Watkins Sheppard too. All companies are different for each person.....and as far as home time 99% of the companies let you take them home...it's up to you to find a place to park.

    Good luck

Don't think that you have to make a decision now as to what company you want to apply to. Go thru school first, you can apply anytime while going thru school. Read thru this forum also and get some ideas. Effective immediately, you will eat, breathe, sleep trucking. 10-4 ?

Of the company's listed you have them pretty much in order top to bottom, any other's you come across would go somewhere above CRE.

I would go with swift as their SMS seems to be under control considering how many power units they have-it will help keep D.O.T of yer back a bit . . .you need to be very safe-especially in your first years . . .

At Covenant Transport, our values drive our performance, as proven by industry statistics ranking us one of the ten largest truckload carriers in the United States measured by revenue. We believe that the development of our business will show our corporate commitment by focusing our attention on the specific needs of our customers and drivers, who are the heartbeat and soul of our business.

Once you have been on the road for 7 days, you can request to be home on the 14th day for 2 days off. If you wish to stay out longer, you get 1 day for each week you are out (maximum of 7 days).

Covenant offers permanently assigned tractors that you can take home when you take time off. Whether you choose an assigned truck may depend on the amount of home-time you prefer. As an OTR driver, you can be home every 14 days.

We hope you consider Covenant as we'd love to work for you. If you have any additional questions regarding Covenant, please contact our recruiting department at 1-866-609-3620. Best of luck in your decision and we hope to see you in orientation!
