I always liked to fuel where I could get all diesel, no biodiesel. Loves, the last station I delivered diesel to, mixed their bio at about 25%. Most use about 20% bio in their fuel. Bio cuts your fuel mileage and gels at about 25 degrees.

The most important thing is to always buy from truck stops that sell a lot of diesel. Those that don't sell very much are more at risk of having algae buildup in their tanks.
All diesel has to meet spec before the refinery will release it to be loaded.scythe08, Crude Truckin', Opendeckin and 4 others Thank this. -

Well, I honestly don't know of too many small truck stops left, all the biggies took care of that. ALL truckstops go through an amazing amount of fuel, so little chance of it ever getting "stale". I'd say a small in town gas station might be a problem, but the Shell station by me says, they sell more diesel than gas, like 5 to 1. I think the risk of stale diesel is pretty rare these days. I read, the US uses an average of 3.75 MILLION barrels of diesel fuel A DAY! It doesn't have a chance to get stale. Besides, it all comes out of a tank the size of Lambeau Field.

I pretty much always bought it from smaller stops, my card had a much better discount, never had a problem with bad fuel. The cars- only stations that also sell diesel aren't going to have the truck stop probably 100,000 gallon storage under ground they probably have 5,000. So it's still being renewed often enough. Nobody wants to sell you bad fuel just the same as you don't want to buy it.
