Yeah, and someone once told me the moon is....never mind:biggrin_2559:

Now, to the OP. Most of the big companies try to keep their equipment in halfway decent shape. But the realities of it are that it is very difficult to do. When you have a drop/hook situation, the individual driver really has no incentive to correct any problems that he finds with the trailer he is dropping. Just drop it, and leave the problems to the driver who has to hook to it.

If you happen to work for a company where you have NO drop and hook, where you stay with the same tractor and trailer all the time, then it puts the responsibility on the driver to keep it in good shape. But it would have to be a very very small company to have this situation.

Of course, now that I've stuck my neck out and said that, we will probably have a half dozen company drivers come on here and say they are assigned a tractor and trailer. But I have never seen it myself...

So when you're laid over for the day waiting to load the NEXT day, and there is a truck wash across the road, that is too much of an inconvience to get it washed, right? P.S. Do you have your Grandbabies riding with you? Do they mind when you have a shower or sleep or deal with a shipper/consignee? Is there a rule that Grand parents have to spend every waking minute with their Grandbabies.

:biggrin_2559::biggrin_2559::biggrin_2559: You gotta be joking. Surely you haven't actually gotten your big boy scooby doo under roos in a twist over whether I wash my truck or not. Really? You did? :biggrin_2559::biggrin_2559::biggrin_2559: Sheesh man......you need some hometime.

You really should not let that bother you. If a dirty truck bothers you that much, then my I suggest you grab a bucket, with soap water, sponge and start washing. Just because a truck is not clean doesn't mean the driver is a pig or doesn't care for their equipment. If you saw what my truck looked like you would think I'm a pig. When if fact mine gets washed once a week, inside and out. But the business I'm in (construction) drive dry powder tanker, it gets dirty on the same day it gets washed..

When I drove for Swift, yes you heard me right Swift, we were allowed to wash our tucks once a month, and the company would reimburse for it.. I also had my rims polished, if not by me, I would pay someone (usually at a ts) to do it for me.. Plus with winter who in their right mind can find the time or would want to wash it when it is just going to get dirty again..

Swift doesn't pay for truck washing any longer. But it's not the money that prevents me..........it really is the time. However.......I'm done with the subject. sheesh.

Allow me to break it down for our rookie poster. I own my truck. I refuse to wash it between october and april. It is just a huge waste of money. I (my youngest son actually) did break down and wash it last weekend. It was covered in seagull poop and was really bothering me.

Now the inside is spotless. I think I have a mild form of OCD. I can not function in a cluttered truck. it just throws off my whole routine.

If the company is not going to pay me to wash their truck, then I'm not gonna do it.
    Simple as that.
I'm not out here to show off my big red rooster cruiser to the rest of the world.
I'm out here for one reason and one reason alone...and that's to make the best dollar possible.
And I just don't do that by working for free.

My company does pay me by the hr to wash my truck up to 4hrs.. But that is once a month. Each other weak I clean it, it is on me.. But I like having a clean truck when all possible so I do not complain...
