    Hello Kit,

Thanks for that info. Many companies do the same, but I don't agree with two rookies ever being put in a truck together. Sounds dangerous. They will definitely be last resort.

Prime requires you to have a pretty much perfect work history with no gaps of being unemployed to get into their school. That might be why you haven't heard from them if you have any employment gaps on your application.

    Hello Dog,

I have researched Knight and they are not all that bad as far as I have read. $2,500 is a great price, but that is a concern to me. Also, they put you in a truck training after school at a split rate of only .22 cents for a while. They also stat $800 weekly, but I did the math and there is no way at .22 cents. You do move to .32 cents after the whole split rate, but that could be 8 months to a year. They would be closer to last resort, but wouldn't count them out.

Thank you for the compliment. I am actually looking to go to Prme myself in a few months for the tanker division. It is just of the options I have available. I miss being out on the open road, after getting back into what I thought was going to be a dream job with my CDL experience.

Actually, I have been in college for the past 4 years as full-time student and self employed to get buy. Many don't look at full-time students as gaps in their work history. College is a full-time job in itself. I am going to contact them because they are my #1 choice. If they are not interested i will most likely go with Stevens Transport. I think they are going to send me to Diesel Driving Academy 30 miles from my house. They hire through them so it makes sense and saves them money. Me money also. I actually think I am going to go to Diesel Driving Academy regardless. It is just more convenient and I want be be attached to anyone. Plus, I am in a hot spot for tanker and flatbed just 1 mile away from I-20.

I believe Knight is a subsidiary of CRE. If so, check out both for good info.

Just DO NOT, NO MATTER WHAT, lease a truck.

    bkm0179 Thanks this.

You are welcome. Yeah, I have to agree that Prime just seems to be either number one or two as far as my research goes. This is especially for rookie drivers. I grew up in the trucking business. My dad is a CEO now, but he drove most of his life. I am lucky in many ways because I have a local job through his company plus the fact I'm only 1 mile from one of the hottest interstates in the country, I-20. Actually the whole area is a hot spot in trucking. I think we are both looking into the right career. I actually chose not to go to my dads company because I really don't want to mix business and family, but you never know. I have a major plus side working for him. Wouldn't want our family situation to be the reason though. He runs Bear Creek which is a tanker industry. He is also in with Murphy Oil. So, I have it there regardless. I agree with you and China though that the money is in tanker and flat bed.

Owe no. CR England has been the bad apple of all the forums since I started reading them. The lease situation all depends if you have a business sense. The lease is not that bad like some people say. You just have to know what your doing. I know because that was how my dad and many other friends in my are started. All of them are successful now and recommended. They stated that it actually depends on which company and also always read your contracts. I don't think I will lease though because my dad is over Bear Creek and part of Murphy Oil. I wouldn't have to lease most likely. I have a foot in the door their after i get experience. I just have to get a year and I am in there because they don't have schooling. I also want to travel the country as well and see different places.

I didn't say not to become an owner-op. I said don't lease. If you want to run your own truck, incorporate, buy a truck with a small business loan and make some real money. Those leases only benefit the companies dishing tbem out.

And yeah, CRE is for the birds in my book.

So, the private schooling is of the table because they want $5000 up front for the 4 week classes. They will go through financial aid and I do qualify, but it cost even more and it is 20 weeks long without any pay. The financial aid only pays the academy for the school and I'm on my on driving back and forth 100 miles a day to school 5 days a week. That is also paying my on gas and meals to survive. I do have the convenience of my own house 20 weeks, but that is a while to go without a pay check. My savings want cover the gas and meals for 20 weeks and with the hours of the school a part-time job is out of the question if I can even find one. So, going to have to go with a company paid CDL school and clueless on which one to sign my butt to. Very confusing situation because I don't want to pick a company that just ain't for me. I feel the pressure my classmate felt when he was the star athlete all these colleges was chomping at the bits at. They all are going to lie to get you to sign the line. I just want to sign with the one that is right for me. I don't mind the away from home time because I want to drive and make the money. I also want to not be broken down in a piece of you know what so equipment is priority also. I really don't want much classroom time either because I just got burnt out on that in college. Finally, I don't want a dozen students to instructor ratio. I'm on a tight budget right now also so anyone got the experienced good advice on the best fit company paid CDL school to sign my soul to? To you guys with the knowledge and experience put yourself in my situation and pretend you was starting over again and tell me what you would do please!!!
