I was in your situation this time last year. I researched them all, both on here and Google. Swift ended up being the best fit for me. I liked that signing on with a company meant a nearly guaranteed job also.

If you go with Swift, your only out of pocket initially is for food and any home expenses those 6weeks.

If you are interested in them, I can give you my recruiter's contact info - she was always honest with me and made sure everything was in order before I got there. Not everyone I ran into @ school was so lucky.

If you want to look at others, Google like crazy and search on Youtube. You'll get a lot of firsthand accounts and sometimes videos of what it's like.

What's important to you in a company and/or their training program? I can give you an ho.est assessment based o. My experiences. I'm not a "rah-rah" Swift person, but I do think they have some good opportunities for new drivers.

Doesn't Roehl have a newer terminal in East Texas somewhere? I think you have to go to Roehl's school in Marshfield or to an approved school. Also I thought I read that Millis just opened a new school down in Texas as well. If you're in Louisiana they might be worth checking into as they're close by.

    Hello Kit,

I will take your advice and put swift back on the list. I have to because all of the companies catch bad raps from someone. Honesty is always a top priority. I would like if you give me your recruiter's info seeing that you are giving a good recommendation. You wouldn't believe some of the recruiter's I have talked to. I'm not going to mention any company or certain recruiter names, but I was like how did this person get a job recruiting lol. A recruiter should have good communication skills and not talk like they have no idea whats going on. A lot of ummm, let me see, duhhh, I have no idea what I'm doing. I had to do most of the talking. I started to ask if I could reply to be a recruiter honestly if that was all the certain companies had to offer. It was like talking to pot heads. Pot heads are cool, but slow and confused lol. Especially if they are smoking the high grade good stuff. Anyway, thanks and send me that recruiter contact info. I actually like the fact that you have knowledge of Swift and been there still there. You are right. All that matters is honesty, good training, and a for sure job in the end. I actually think that all the schools that offer this type of contract are basically the same in the long run. as far as importance to a company to me, I would have to say honesty, great equipment, low student to instructor training, professional on all levels, pay, and miles. I'm single so really don't care about home time. TTYL

I just got off the phone with Roehl and they are in Marshfield, Wisconsin. They didn't mention anything about Texas. They did say that it is going to cost $400 for lodge while training. I lost interest when I heard that. I'm not sure if she said $400 a week for three weeks or just $400. Either way that is out the window. May be a great company, but it is far from Louisiana and paying for lodge is just crazy. I'll take the so called bad companies with free lodge any day. I do know that Roehl hires through Diesel Driving Academy here in Louisiana, but that is $5000 dollars cash up front for the four week program. They have a program that is 20 weeks long and financial aid helps, but 20 weeks and cost more than the four week class. Just not worth it.

Do NOT go with FFE! I made that mistake, went through their school and everything, I learned to back up from an INMATE, so of course when I got to FFE backing up was my weakness, but besides that, my trainer was absolutely horrifying and the company could care less about their students, you get NO support. Terrible company, I went with them because after researching for like 6 months they were the company that seemed to have a least amount of complaints.
