hey drop n hook, my husband has been with american eagle for over a year now, i can help you with any questions you have. no, you dont need hazmat, they haul general frieght, the ins. is too expensive. yes you are assigned your own truck, and you can take it home if you have a secure place to park it. depending on where you live, getting home time is easy, you get 1 day for every week your out. now we usually get home a day or two before our requested time off. time starts at midnight the day requested, and you report back at 8 am the day after. or when your d.m. asks you to. you can generally take hometime anywhere they run. doesnt have to be at your home. we take ours in florida quite often, since i have family there. miles are good as long as you can run them. pay stinks. im being honest here. they paid for his school, and he had to work for them for 1 yr. to complete his contract with them. and they only pay him .29 cpm, thats mover guide mileage also., you are to go by their fuel, route also. they have freightliner century class, optimized idle, which i just hate!, they do have extra pay, like, detention for some customers, layover, breakdown, extra stops/pu, short haul, their trucks are governed at 62 mph, which stinks. my opinion, well his mostly. they do have a rider policy after 60 days i think, it costs like 27.00 a mo. they have a pet policy, i think they take 1 cent per mile for a pet, unless thats changed. this is a pretty good "starter" company for the most part, if you get lucky and get a good d.m. like we have, we had 2. you can make a living with them. the planners well, some are good, some are not. some you just wanna choke lol. i hope i filled you in enough to make a decision. i dont reccommend ffe inc. at all. heard nothing but horror stories from their drivers, alot have left them and came over to ael, or lisa. I suggest you try to talk to some of their drivers in order to decide on them or not. feel free to ask away anything i may have forgotten to address. good luck to ya!

I'm thinkin of goin to AE mainly because of the school so i can go ahead and get my cdl and a year is not that long. I'm just wanting some more information about AE in general I've heard the pay is good and the home time is about what you'll find anywhere else. I've heard terrible things about FFE and I think the rep they have kinda scares me with AE and i'm brand new in the trucking industry and ALOT to learn. I don't even know how to drive a stick shift and I'm nervous about that although I've heard that instructors actually prefer that so they can teach you "their" way. If there is a current AE driver out there please respond back to me, tell me what you think. Thanks!

Conwell Corp is the parent company of FFE/Am Eagle/Lisa Motor lines/. Great Western And Middleton use to be, but I believe they folded them up. They are non-haz carrier. A/E is dry freight. Run 48, decent equipment, in business since '46. About 1600 trucks. I recommend A/E.......

I just got booted from FFE as a lease driver. If you go with them stay on the company driver side, do not lease, they will screw you. As far as what compnay is best, they are all now in the same building and under the same rule. They are going to do away with all the company names and go with only FFE (Frozen Food Express) They have had nothing but problems with the Volvos and end up screwing the leasor. If you ahve any further questions about FFE you can PM me

It doesn't matter which "company" you go to work for you will haul what is needed wherever you are. FFE is a forced dispatch company, and I have hauled as many loads for Lisa and A/E as I have for FFE itself. Yes the trucks are slow as hell ( mine is 63 so I actually outrun others in our fleet), but it doesn't matter how slow the truck is if you don't have good miles speed doesn't count for much.
As far as the rider program the monthly fee is to cover their AD&D insurance in the event of an accident. Also their pet policy is 1c per mile + $100 cleanup fee if you are moved to another truck. Basically it comes down to whether or not you have a good fleet manager, where you are and what is available to tell if you will have a good experience. If there are any other questions anyone would like to ask of an EMPLOYED FFE driver then PM me or ask a moderator to do so for you.
