Some will say the ATA is more for Large(r) Carriers/Fleets
-
OOIDA.
The ATA covers companies and wants more foreign drivers.
If you die behind the wheel they(ATA) will want to have a monkey sent out via Fed-ex to recover your truck.
To the ATA.......drivers are a neccesary evil.Corporal_Clegg and aiwiron Thank this. -
if you clearly read the statements, it is clear who is for drivers and who is for the industry.
the ata is made of of companies, ooida is o/o's ,drivers ,and tiny fleets.
example, ata is in favor of eobr, ooida is against it .aiwiron Thanks this. -
OOIDA, like said above ooida is for drivers and the board members are drivers elected by driver's.
-
OOIDA for sure. ATA only represents carriers corporate intrests. A lot of the nrw regs pertaining too logs have come via the ATA, as well as the eobr proposal and speed limiter proposal. The ATA has a huge lobbying presense in D.C. and they use it to as they say "level the playing field" with small carriers and independents. They also knowthat O/O will never band together to oppose them. So in the end OOIDA is all we have, and it wont be enough to stop the tidal wave of oppressive regs that will make it a lot harder for us to compete with large carriers.... In the end, we did it to ourselves for not getting together when we had the chance.

And who are the leaders of these organization. I think that says a lot about their character, kinda like some of the government now.
-
As a long time driver and O/O I have witnessed the ATA do more for us than the hierarchy of OOIDA even stands around the lobby of their building, talking about. OOIDA talks alot about what they're going to do, ATA actually does things.
RickG Thanks this. -
OOIDA
ATA Sucks -
ATA is nothing more than a paid sponsor for major carriers and bottom feeders.
